Edit the public site

Axum staff write public help and blog pages from the console. You sign in with your Axum account. You do not use GitHub.

  1. Sign in at the console sign-in page.
  2. If you cannot open Content, ask a publisher to grant access on System health, in the Site editors card.
  3. Select Content in the left rail, or open Content.
  1. Open Content. The page lists every article. Drafts that wait for a publisher show first.
  2. Select New article, or select the title of an article to change it.
  3. Fill the title, the short description, and the article text. Use More settings for the less common settings.
  4. Select Save draft. Select Preview to check the page.
  5. A publisher selects Publish after the content check is green.

The live page updates in a few minutes. A publisher can undo a published change. Open the menu with three dots, then select Undo published version.

If someone else saved the article after you opened it, your save stops. The page shows “Someone else changed this article”. Copy your changes, reload the article, and save again.

If a draft is stuck or wrong, select Discard draft in the side panel. The live article does not change, and you lose the text of the draft. A writer can discard only a draft that the writer started. A publisher can also discard a waiting undo or delete.

The web address and the kind of an article cannot change after the first save. The product area of a help article cannot change either.

Only a publisher can unpublish or delete. Open the menu with three dots, then select Unpublish. Unpublish saves a draft. The article stays live until a publisher publishes the draft.

If other articles link to the article, remove those links first. The page names them. An article that the console links to cannot be unpublished. A link card, a related article and a Markdown link all count.

An unpublished article leaves the site, the search and the sitemap. Select Republish in the same menu to bring it back.

Select Delete article to remove an unpublished article from the repository. Delete saves a draft too. You cannot undo a delete from the console. The images stay.

Put the cursor where the item must go. Then select a toolbar button.

  • Image: upload a JPEG, PNG or WebP of 1 MB or less. Write a description. Add a caption if you want one.
  • Chart: type the rows and values, or paste cells from a spreadsheet. The page shows the chart and a data table.
  • Callout: add a Note, Tip, Caution or Danger box.
  • Link card: show the title and summary of another article or post.
  • Table, Quote and Divider: use them to make long text easier to read.

Fill the web address before you add an image. The image goes into the draft of that web address.
